Transponder Chip Key

The transponder key is an electronic security device for vehicles that transmits a unique code when it's placed in the ignition. The immobilizer will then block the vehicle's starter motor, fuel pump and any other device that could allow it to operate it wasn't for the chip's identification code.

The key is usually composed of only metal, with a plastic head which houses the transponder.
